IASB seeks feedback on post implementation review of IFRS 16
The purpose of the post-implementation review (‘PIR’) is for the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to understand whether the principles in IFRS 16 ‘Leases’ are working as intended.
Some of the key areas where questions were asked by the IASB to the stakeholders on the application of IFRS 16 are:
Usefulness of information resulting from lessees’ application of judgement
Usefulness of information about lessees’ lease-related cash flows
Ongoing costs for lessees in applying the measurement requirements
Difficulties observed in assessing whether the transfer of an asset in a sale and leaseback transaction is a sale
Whether restricting the amount of gain (or loss) an entity recognises in a sale and leaseback transaction results in useful information
We encourage you to share your comments on the questions asked in this PIR. Comments should be submitted to the IASB by 15 October 2025 or shared with the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board by 15 September 2025.
ACSR invites public feedback on proposed framework for sustainability assurance
On 25 June 2025, the Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR), chaired by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), published a consultation paper to seek public feedback on the proposed framework for sustainability assurance. The consultation paper proposes, among others, the adoption of ISSA 5000 ‘General Requirements on Sustainability Assurance Engagements’ as the recognised sustainability assurance standard in Malaysia, competency requirements for the sustainability assurance engagement leader, and the timeframe for reasonable assurance beyond Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions.
We encourage you to share your comments on the questions asked in the consultation paper. Comments should be submitted to the ACSR by 6 August 2025.
